24. You are as Jesus is in this world (1)

Last week we saw that we can live without fear. We don't need to walk through this life afraid that something might happen to us. That is not what God wants for us; He wants us to live without fear and to walk with Him in His ways. In His ways is protection for us from all fronts. He wants us to walk with joy through this life. His plan is not that we hide away afraid of what might come our way. No, He wants us out there, sharing His Word and sharing His Gospel.

His Spirit lives in His fullness within us. And He operates through us in this world. 1 Corinthians 6:17 tells us that we are one Spirit with Him. Jesus in His fullness lives within us and therefore we can understand 1 John 4:17 better:

"Love has been perfected among us in this: that we may have boldness in the day of judgment; because as He is, so are we in this world."

We are like Jesus in this world. As He is so are we. He is full of wisdom, love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness and self-control and so are we. We are as He is. And notice the wording, 'in this world'. Not one day, but now already. We are His body here on earth:

"And He put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be head over all things to the church, which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all." Ephesians 1:22, 23

He is the head of His body. And that is us. We are the body of Christ that has the fullness of Him who fills all in all. Do you realise what this one sentence means? The fullness of Christ, the King of kings and the Lord of lords, is within you. Other synonyms for 'fullness' is richness, completeness and inclusiveness. In other words the richness of all that Jesus is, is within us. He is within us completely, no part of Him is withheld. And all His power, might, love and wisdom is all inclusive within us. He fills everything, all in all, and He lives within us. Isn't that amazing? Isn't that just the Good News? We can walk as Jesus did on this earth. Not because we are wonderful or did something great, no, because He lives within us and permeates through our beings into this world. It is still Him doing the miracles, it is still Him loving others, it is still Him caring for the broken-hearted, it is still Him, but He wants to flow through you. You simply need to be willing. You need to walk as He walked:

"He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked." 1 John 2:6

The Bible is quite clear about this. John is actually giving us a command here, we should walk as Jesus walked. And how did Jesus walk? He walked with compassion and love. He walked with dearness, but also with authority. He walked with power and the ability to change people's circumstances. He walked as a King. No one could touch Him without Him giving the permission for them to do so. He offered Himself willingly, not because He couldn't protect Himself. He offered Himself to save us.

And today we can also walk in a similar way. We are sons of the Most High God and the King of kings lives within us. We are the kings that He is King over. Start acting like one. Reach out and help where you can, drive out darkness with the authority given to you and love those around you, all the while knowing who you are in Christ. You don't have any excuses. You have the ability to help and the power of God residing within you. Be the body of Christ that this world so desperately need. Reach out and make a difference right there where you are.

Father we love and adore You. You are the Most High God. Thank you for all the privileges that You have given us. Thank you for the gift of Your Spirit. We rejoice and honour You. You are our God and King. Amen
